Preflight checklist
Run this list right before every export. Every item maps to a tool in the plugin, so nothing here requires guesswork.
Document
- Frame size matches the trim size the printer confirmed, plus bleed. Check the selection line at the top of the plugin: it shows the physical size of whatever you select.
- Bleed is present on all four sides and background art actually extends into it. Empty white bleed defeats the purpose.
- All text and logos are inside the safe area (green dashed guide).
- Page count for booklets is what you intend; saddle stitch pads to a multiple of four with blanks.
Images
- DPI check shows green (or intentional amber) on every image at your target.
- No screenshots or web images stretched beyond their pixels.
- Photos reaching the paper edge extend into the bleed.
Color
- Soft proof reviewed; you accept how vivid colors shift.
- Small black text is pure black in Figma (converts to K100, crisp on one plate).
- Large black areas use a rich black custom mapping (C40 M30 Y30 K100) if you want depth.
- Brand colors that are contractual have custom color mappings.
Export settings
- Color space and profile match the printer's request; when unknown, eciCMYK (FOGRA59) is the safe exchange choice.
- PDF/X-1a on, trim and bleed boxes enabled.
- Crop marks on (and dieline with the right plate name for stickers).
- Maximum DPI: 300 for standard work, 600 for small text, 150 for large format.
- Preview page 1 looks exactly like what you want to hand over.
Handoff
- File name says what it is: job, size, color space, DPI are all in the generated name.
- One combined PDF unless the shop asked for separate files.
- Your email states the standard: "PDF/X-1a, CMYK, marks and boxes included."
