Quickstart
This guide installs the plugin and walks you through your first press-ready export.
The plugin runs 100% locally: rendering, color conversion, and file assembly never leave your machine. Its manifest only allows reaching the payment provider for Pro license checks - Figma itself guarantees your artwork cannot be sent anywhere. Details in Security and privacy.
Install the plugin
- Open Print Ready on the Figma Community and click Install.
- Open any design file.
- Run the plugin from Plugins → Print Ready, or press Cmd/Ctrl + / and type "Print Ready".
Your first print frame
- Open the Setup tab.
- Pick a preset, for example A4 or Business card (EU), or type a custom size in mm, cm, or inches.
- Keep the defaults: 3 mm bleed and 3 mm safe margin.
- Click Create print frame.
You get a frame at trim plus bleed size with two locked guides: the blue line is where the cut lands, and the green dashed line is the safe area for text and logos. Extend background art all the way to the frame edge.
Your first export
- Design inside the frame.
- Select the frame and open the PDF tab.
- Pick a preset from the sidebar, for example Export in CMYK (US).
- Use Preview page 1 (free) to see exactly what will export.
- Click Export PDF.
The file downloads as a CMYK PDF/X-1a with trim and bleed boxes and vector crop marks, sized exactly right. Send it to your print shop as-is.
Exporting from the PDF tab is a Pro feature ($9.99/month). Setup, guides, checks, the preview, and PNG/JPG export are free.
